Caristix Announces New Board Member

Quebec City, Canada – May 6, 2015 – Caristix, a healthcare IT startup transforming integration and interoperability, announced today it has added Shahid Shah to its Board of Directors.

Shahid Shah is an internationally recognized, award-winning, healthcare data integration expert with 25 years of large scale systems engineering, technology strategy, and sales / marketing experience in healthcare and government sectors.

“Caristix is excited to have Shahid on-board. Shahid’s experience and knowledge add to the expertise and depth of the industry leadership of our Board of Directors. We look forward to Shahid’s voice and involvement in further shaping the vision and the future of Caristix as it continues to target hospitals and healthcare organizations toward interoperability through effective products and services,” said Stéphane Vigot, CEO and cofounder of Caristix.

Data exchange and interoperability is something that the healthcare industry has been struggling with recently, especially as billions of dollars of Meaningful Use incentives has flooded the market with new and ever more capable electronic health record systems that are designed to operate in a standalone manner. Caristix’s long term vision is directly aligned with what The United States’ National Coordinator for Health IT, Dr. Karen DeSalvo, is promoting. Healthcare IT News recently wrote about her April 2015 keynote in which she said “It’s now time to ‘focus beyond adoption’ of health IT and create an interoperable, learning health system “upon the strong foundation we all have built.” Caristix is one of the few companies in the health IT ecosystem that is uniquely focused on integrating, connecting, and exchanging data between systems.

Mr. Shah said “the kind of interoperability and data exchange capabilities we’ll need for next generation analytics, real patient engagement, true care coordination, and high value population health require a serious set of tools that the healthcare community lacks. I’m thrilled to be joining the Caristix team because they want to do more than talk about data integration – they’re investing time and money into next generation tools that will make high quality data exchange a reality.”

Mr. Shah is the Chairman of the Strategic Advisory board of OSEHRA, cofounder of PrescribeWell, Chairman of the HealthIMPACT Forum, a board member of several other companies, and CEO of Netspective.  He is a Computer Science graduate of Penn State and received his Master’s Degree in Technology Management from the University of Maryland.

About Caristix

The average US hospital runs up to 100 IT systems. Not a single one of these systems can share patient information out of the box. But effective patient care demands that IT systems exchange information. So hospitals and vendors turn to data interfaces – 50 to 100 of them in an average hospital. However, it can take months of painstaking manual work to set up an interface.

In addition to its professional services, Caristix has developed a software suite to automate this manual work. Our software reads data in an information system and outputs a list of requirements for setting up the interface. As a result, Caristix software can reduce months of work to a few days. Overall, our software can reduce interface deployment time by 50%, reduce hospital testing time by 75%, and cut interface maintenance time by 90%.
